What to Wear to Your First Pole Dance Class: Feel Confident & Comfortable

So, you’ve signed up for your first pole dance class – that’s awesome! Feeling a little nervous about what to wear? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. The right outfit can boost your confidence and help you get the most out of your class.

Comfort is Key

Pole dancing involves a lot of skin-to-pole contact for grip, so it’s important to choose clothes that allow for this. But remember, comfort is just as crucial. You’ll be moving around a lot, so avoid anything too restrictive or that might get in the way.

Tops

  • Sports bras or tank tops: These are perfect for pole dancing. They provide support and allow for a full range of motion. Look for breathable fabrics that will keep you cool during your workout.
  • Avoid baggy t-shirts: These can get in the way and make it difficult to see what you’re doing.

Bottoms

  • Shorts: Athletic shorts or booty shorts are ideal. They allow for freedom of movement and provide the necessary skin contact for grip.
  • Leggings: While leggings can be comfortable, they might make it harder to grip the pole. If you prefer leggings, try ones that expose your knees and ankles.

Footwear

  • Barefoot: Most pole dancers prefer to go barefoot for maximum grip and feel.
  • Socks: Socks can be helpful if you’re new to pole dancing or have sweaty feet.
  • Heels: Heels are typically worn in more advanced classes or performances. Avoid wearing heels in your first class.

Additional Tips

  • Layers: You might want to bring layers to warm up in and shed as you get going.
  • Hair ties: Keep your hair out of your face with a ponytail or bun.
  • Jewelry: Remove any jewelry that might get caught on the pole or scratch it.
  • Confidence: The most important thing to wear is your confidence! Don’t be afraid to try new things and have fun.
