Stretch Your Comfort Zone – Jenn’s Story

One of the many hats I wear is one of amateur photographer. There is a really cool photography studio near my house that I had been meaning to check out for a while called Omni Lens Studios. My fear of encountering new situations and people held me back, but I threw caution to the wind. They had a cosplay modeling event there and I decided to do both! I dressed up funky and took my hoops and camera.

What is considered stepping outside my comfort zone? I tend to get really weird and awkward when I meet a new group of people. I felt out of place, but soon found a rhythm and and even had a few photographers take my photo too. I slowly started to relax a little bit. (Here’s the gallery from the day: http://jenndixonphotography.com/p350619428)

As a result, I got some great photos, had some nice ones taken of me, and met some really awesome new people. I’ve gone to a few more events with the same group, and they are always kind and welcoming.

To be honest, the fear of new situations and people hits me a lot. But the more I step outside my comfort zone I discover new groups or places that eventually become a part of me. I even encountered this with Studio Spin! I almost always am glad I take the chance!
